Today I posted a picture of the no oats oatmeal that I had for breakfast and I quickly found out how much other paleo dieters miss this warm delicious breakfast treat.  I had seen some others posting about this phenomenon, and although I was quite skeptical about oatmeal without oats myself (because that just sounds crazy) I was also so intrigued that I had to give it a try immediately.  I went on a search for the perfect recipe and came across this one at Carrots ‘N’ Cake.  I’m not sure that she’s the original creator of the no oats oatmeal, but she’s definitely on to something with the ingredients she’s chosen to include in her bowl!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 & 1/2 tbsp LSA meal
  • 1 banana mashed
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Blueberries or fruit of your choice
  1. Whisk together egg whites and almond milk, then add in walnuts, LSA meal, banana, cinnamon and vanilla and mix well
  2. Pour the mixture into a sauce pan and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously.  It should only take a few minutes for it to reach an oatmeal like consistency
  3. Serve with blueberries or fruit of your choice
Preparation time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 5 minutes | Number of Servings: 2

  1. I made this for breakfast today and it was delicious! Two things – I used half banana and half pure pumpkin because I had it on hand AND there is no way that I could have eaten all of this. If you’re not a big eater, this recipe can easily feed 2. If you’re feeding small children, I’d say you could get 3 servings out of this easily.

    • Oh yum pumpkin sounds great! And I must have eaten this on a day that I was starving, because other’s have mentioned that it’s worthy of 2 servings. I’ll make an update to the post. Thanks!

  2. Finally got time to jump on your blog!! – your instagram feed inspires me daily :D

  7. This is my 3rd day me and my family (hubby, my 14 Yr old and my 7 yr old) have been 100% paleo. It isn’t as hard as I thought it would be but I’m having trouble with the baking part. Everything falls apart…getting a little frustrated. But the cooking part is great!!!!

  8. I just started the Paleo life this past Monday and I had already been searching for something other than eggs in the morning and this is fantastic! I also used flax because that is what I had bought and these ingredients arent the cheapest! Thank you for the suggestions :] Oh AND it was definitely enough for two servings and believe me, this girl likes to eat!

  9. what is LSA?

  10. Why no egg yolks? If I add the complete egg, should i add anything else to make it work?
